I am a Registered Counsellor, in private practice since 2008. I work with individual adults to identify what may be causing the current dissatisfaction in their personal or career life, and the emergent paths that promote greater satisfaction and happiness in their life as a whole.
My practice has evolved over the years along with the needs of my clients: I started with a career counselling focus, but we cannot segment our lives so neatly to think what happens in our career has no influence in our personal lives, and vice versa, and broader counselling for life's mishaps and changes was incorporated into my practice. Through career counselling of adults, a pattern emerged of unsatisfactory subject combinations; either as a result of poor advice or academic difficulties. Subject choice and academic assistance were integrated. The academic difficulties were often traced back to starting school on the wrong foot, and a school readiness assessment was offered to identify the missing or underdeveloped skills. Those children who were brought for school readiness assessment often had difficult family dynamics, and a parenting workshop for new parents became the last (for now) addition to my practice.
